Upcoming Features?

After all of the testing I've done with the other physics engines, I've decided to use your physics engine as my primary.

I was wondering, what upcoming features do you have planned for the next release, if any.

I am "attempting" to add a few features to the Oops physics engine myself, but if I know what you're going

to add/update, I can focus on other parts of the engine. I'm 100% sure your understand your physics engine better than me. LOL

Hey Nelxon, thanks for the kind words.  I've been working on a game and normally update the framework as I add things for the game.  Currently, these things are on the list to be included in the next release:

  • CollisionCapsules.
  • Fixed interia tensor calculations.
  • Interpolated positioning for fixed timestep.
  • Collision Islands (possibly).

I also will be working on the following a bit later for my game:

  • Slight constraint overhaul.
  • Add a generic degrees of freedom constraint or universal joint constraint.
  • Rag dolls!

Do you have any requests for new features?

LOL, I consider all of my requests out of scope, but since you asked...

  • collision detection for almost all convex shapes, similar to http://xenocollide.snethen.com/
  • collision detection for nonconvex rigid bodies, similar to http://graphics.stanford.edu/papers/rigid_bodies-sig03/
  • cloth, springs, softbodies physics, example http://cg.skeelogy.com/introduction-to-soft-body-physics-in-xna/
  • destruction/fracture
  • wind physics
  • buoyancy

I don't expect to see any of these requests anytime soon, Like I said consider my requests out of scope.

The features you have listed are good enough for me.
"Interpolated positioning for fixed timestep" is what I was working on...

Once I have the CollisionCapsules, I should be able to create better rag dolls.

BTW what is your game? Have you submitted it to be play-tested yet? I'm curious to see how you're using your engine.
